Manatee Advisory Committee
​​Background: The Manatee Advisory Committee is a nine member advisory board established by the Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners. Three of the members shall represent the development community of Charlotte County, three members shall come from local environmental advocacy groups, and three members shall represent the local fishing and boating community.
Roles and Responsibilities: ​​​​​​​​​​Charlotte County Resolution 2010-009, defines the functions, powers and duties of this committee as follows:
  • The committee shall with assistance of professional staff make recommendations to the Board and assist in the development of a Manatee Protection Plan.
  • The committee shall engage in public outreach and comment as well as seek the input of other governmental agencies in the development of that Plan.
