65-percent of County Voters Favor Sales Tax Extension

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Feb. 28, 2018) – The University of Florida Survey Research Center recently completed a survey of Charlotte County voters about an extension of the 1 percent local option sales tax in 2020.

Sixty-five percent of respondents surveyed favored of an extension of the local option 1-percent sales tax. Asked how proceeds should be used, 72% of respondents were in favor of the extension if it were used towards improving water quality in Charlotte Harbor. The majority of respondents also favored using revenue to defray homeowner costs for septic-to-sewer conversion and beach renourishment.
