Administrator: Partial County Facility Closure Aimed At Stopping Virus
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (March 18, 2020) –Charlotte County Administrator Hector Flores issued the following statement:
"On March 17, Charlotte County closed all recreation centers, libraries and pools until April 12 pending future developments. The decision to close these facilities follows guidance from the Centers for Disease Control to limit all mass gatherings of 10 or more people to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.
We recognize the closures create a temporary inconvenience for our residents and visitors, but the county's primary responsibility is to safeguard the health of the public. We are fortunate to date to have only one positive case of COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, in Charlotte County. The more successful we and other communities are in stopping the spread of the virus, the faster everyone can return to normal operations."
