Army Corps Operation Blue Roof Ends Oct. 3

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Oct. 2, 2017) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Operation Blue Roof program based at Lowes Home Improvement in Port Charlotte will close at 6 p.m., Oct. 3.

Operation Blue Roof is a program for homeowners who have sustained damage to their roofs. The program sends licensed contractors out to homes to cover the damage with tarps until homeowners can arrange repairs.

This is a free service to homeowners with homes that are primary residences or permanently occupied rental properties that have less than 50 percent structural damage. Vacation rental properties are not eligible for the program.

Charlotte County will distribute free tarps from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Charlotte County Administration Center, 18500 Murdock Circle in Port Charlotte. Each vehicle may receive two 20-foot-by-25-foot tarps. Tarps will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until they are gone.
