Calusa Village Visits Mid-County Regional Library March 16

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (March 13, 2017) – Charlotte County Historical Center will be hosting a living history Calusa village during spring break. The Calusa were one of southwest Florida’s earliest inhabitants. These “Fierce People” had a unique and complex society which enabled them to become one of Florida’s most powerful cultures. Participants will be able to walk through a simulated village and explore the techniques they used to survive and build their culture. Calusa-style necklaces and masks will be available to craft.

The Calusa Village will be held at Mid-County Regional Library, 2050 Forrest Nelson Blvd. Port Charlotte, in the youth section from 2 - 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 16. Admission is free to this family-friendly program.

For more information, contact the Historical Center at 941-629-7278 or visit us at www.CharlotteCountyFL.gov — click Libraries & History under Popular Links and select Charlotte County Historical Center.
