Celebrate International Archaeology Day Oct. 21 at Bayshore Live Oak Park
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Oct. 20, 2017) – The Charlotte County Historical Center will be collaborating with Florida Public Archaeology Network for International Archaeology Day, Oct. 21.
Join in a celebration of southwest Florida archaeology and history with a dozen local museums, clubs, community organizations, and food trucks. There will also be information booths, interactive areas to learn about prehistoric technology in Florida, and walking tours of the park led by the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center. The Florida Public Archaeology Network and Charlotte County Historical Center host this local celebration to connect southwest Florida with its long human history.
This free, family-friendly event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bayshore Live Oak Park, 23157 Bayshore Road in Port Charlotte. This beautiful area has a deep local history creating the perfect setting to discover how humans survived and thrived in southwest Florida for thousands of years.
