Charlotte County Request for Volunteers


CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Nov. 1, 2017) – The Board of County Commissioners is seeking volunteers for the following appointments:

Environmentally Sensitive Lands Oversight Committee
is seeking one Business/Land Development Representative volunteer who must be a Charlotte County resident. Term will expire three years from the date of appointment. To obtain an application, please contact Lisa Eby at 941-743-1300 or email Lisa.Eby@CharlotteCountyFL.gov.

Manasota and Sandpiper Advisory Committee is seeking two volunteers who must be residents of Manasota Key or Sandpiper Key. Term: two members to serve a two-year term from appointment until Nov. 30, 2019. For an application, contact Diane Clim at 941-743-1956 or email Diane.Clim@CharlotteCountyFl.gov.

Marine Advisory Committee is seeking one volunteer to serve as a Member-at-Large for a three-year term. Must be a resident of Charlotte County with preference for those who are in one of the designated areas: fishing guide or tour boat operations, bait and tackle operators, commercial fishing industry, marina operations, personal watercraft or marine sales, as well as certified scuba diving profession. Term will expire Dec. 31, 2020. To obtain an application, call 941-743-1309 or email Joann.Dillon@CharlotteCountyFL.gov.

Tourist Development Council is seeking one member to serve on the council. Member must be a representative of the tourism industry who have demonstrated an interest in tourist development but who are not owners or operators of motels, hotels, recreational vehicle parks or other tourist accommodations in the county. All applicants must be residents of Charlotte County. The Tourist Development Council meets every other month at 9:00 a.m. in Murdock. Terms are for four years. The following Metropolitan Planning Organization Committees are seeking volunteers. The deadline for submitting an application is Monday, Dec. 4, 2017. Please go online at www.ccmpo.com or contact the MPO for an application. The MPO mailing address is: Charlotte County-Punta Gorda MPO, 25550 Harbor View Road, Suite 4, Port Charlotte, FL 33980. Fax: 941-883-3534 Email: office@ccmpo.com. The MPO Board will elect the positions at its Monday, Dec. 18, 2017 Meeting.

  • MPO - Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) is seeking a South County resident to serve on the BPAC. The BPAC reviews and makes recommendations on transportation plans and projects that the MPO Board will consider.
  • MPO – Citizens’ Advisory Committee (CAC) is seeking a Charlotte County resident to serve as an At-Large Representative. The CAC reviews and makes recommendations on transportation plans and projects that the MPO Board will consider.
  • MPO - Charlotte County Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board (LCB) is seeking one volunteer representing the Private Transportation Industry. The purpose of the LCB is to identify local service needs and to provide information, advice, and direction to the Community Transportation Coordination of service to be provided to the transportation disadvantaged.

  • Alligator Creek Waterway Unit is seeking one member to fill a vacant unexpired term through Oct. 31, 2020.
  • Boca Grande Street & Drainage Unit is seeking two members to fill vacant unexpired terms. The length of each term will be drawn at the first Advisory Board meeting to be scheduled at such time a quorum of three members is reached.
  • Buena Vista Area Waterway Unit is seeking one member to fill a vacant unexpired term through Oct. 31, 2020.
  • Charlotte Ranchettes Unit is seeking one member to fill a vacant unexpired term through Oct. 31, 2019.
  • Edgewater North Waterway Unit is seeking one member to fill a vacant unexpired term through Oct. 31, 2019.
  • Englewood East Non-Urban Street & Drainage Unit is seeking one member to fill a vacant unexpired term through Oct. 31, 2018.
  • Gardens of Gulf Cove Street & Drainage Unit is seeking four members to fill vacant unexpired terms. The length of each term will be drawn at the first Advisory Board meeting to be scheduled at such time a quorum of three members is reached.
  • Greater Port Charlotte Street & Drainage Unit is seeking one member to fill a vacant unexpired term through Oct. 31, 2020.
  • Grove City Street & Drainage Unit is seeking one member to fill a vacant unexpired term through Oct. 31, 2018.
  • Gulf Cove Street & Drainage Unit is seeking one member to fill a vacant unexpired term through Oct. 31, 2018.
  • Gulf Cove Waterway Unit is seeking one member to fill a vacant unexpired term through Oct. 31, 2020.
  • Harbour Heights Waterway Maintenance District is seeking two members to fill vacant unexpired terms through Oct. 31, 2018 and Oct. 31, 2020.
  • Manchester Waterway Benefit Unit is seeking one member to fill a vacant unexpired term through Oct. 31, 2020.
  • Mid Charlotte Stormwater Utility Unit is seeking one member to fill a vacant unexpired term. The length of each term will be drawn at the next Advisory Board meeting.
  • Northwest Port Charlotte Street & Drainage Unit is seeking one member to fill a vacant unexpired term through Oct. 31, 2018.
  • Northwest Port Charlotte Waterway Unit is seeking one member to fill a vacant unexpired term through Oct. 31, 2020.
  • Rotonda Heights Street & Drainage Unit is seeking one member to fill a vacant unexpired term through Oct. 31, 2020.
  • Rotonda West Street & Drainage Unit is seeking one member to fill a vacant unexpired term through Oct. 31, 2020.
  • South Burnt Store Street & Drainage Unit is seeking one member to fill a vacant unexpired term through Oct. 31, 2020.
