Expansion of Services with Dedication of Rescue 11
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Aug. 22, 2017) – Charlotte County Fire & EMS is pleased to announce an expansion of services for the community with the addition of Advanced Life Support Rescue 11. Rescue 11’s assignment is at Fire & EMS Station 11, located at 27055 Rushmore Avenue, Harbour Heights, FL. 33983. Members of the public and media are invited join us for the dedication of Rescue 11 on Sept. 8, 2017 at 11:00 am.
Speakers at the dedication ceremony include Charlotte County District 1 Commissioner Ken Doherty, Public Safety Director Chief William Van Helden and Medical Director Dr. Dan O’Leary.
The addition of Rescue 11 addresses the expected increase in coverage demands for service throughout the county. Fire & EMS experienced an 18% increase in emergency calls through last quarter of 2016 (4,962 calls in 2015 increased to 5,874 calls in 2016). In 2017, April through June, Fire & EMS’s emergency calls increased by 5% with call numbers increasing from 5,814 to 6,128.
Rescue 11 was funded through the Capital Improvement Program at the cost of $268,415 plus equipment.
Following the dedication ceremony, residents and media representatives will be provided the opportunity to speak with county officials and tour Station 11 and the emergency apparatus.
