Free Tarp Distribution Event Jan. 20
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Jan. 11, 2019) – Hurricane season is still several months away but now is when you should be thinking about disaster preparedness. "Being prepared should be a priority year round and not just during Hurricane Season. We encourage our residents to not wait until June 1 to begin preparedness efforts," says Charlotte County Emergency Management Coordinator, Patrick Fuller.
Charlotte County received a shipment of surplus tarps from the state and is holding a tarp giveaway to help residents add to their disaster preparedness supplies. "Surplus tarps provided to the County from the State after last Hurricane Season are a great way to ensure you are working towards better preparedness," says Fuller. "We trust our residents are doing what they can to be as prepared as possible all year long and hope these tarps will put them on even better footing."
The tarp distribution event will be in the parking lot near the ballfields of the Harold Avenue Recreation Center on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The address of the Harold Avenue Recreation Center is 23400 Harold Ave, Port Charlotte, Florida 33980.
Charlotte County residents will be allowed two tarps per vehicle as long as supplies last.
