Gaines Veterans Memorial Park Fundraiser Set for Feb. 16

 

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Jan. 31, 2019) – The first community fundraiser for the William R. Gaines Jr. Veterans Memorial Park (honoring all of our veterans and first responders) is scheduled for 3 p.m., Feb. 16 at American Legion Post #103, 2101 Taylor Road in Punta Gorda.

The event will feature music by The Boogiemen and food will be provided compliments of Stacks Comfortable Food. Tickets are $35 which includes admission to the program, concert and food and can be purchased at the event.

Bill Gaines was a Charlotte High School graduate who was killed Oct. 23, 1983 in the bombing of the Marine Corps barracks in Beirut, Lebanon in 1983. He was just 21 years old. The park project is a partnership honoring all of our veterans and first responders between the foundation his family created in his memory named the William R. Gaines Jr. Veteran Memorial Fund and Charlotte County.

The William R. Gaines Jr. Veteran Memorial Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions are tax-deductible as permitted by law. Their tax identification number is 81-539-3249.
