Mortimer Appointed Interim Utilities Director
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Oct. 10, 2017) – Charlotte County Administrator Ray Sandrock appointed Capital Projects Manager Travis Mortimer as interim director of the Utilities Department, succeeding former Director Gary Hubbard, who resigned Oct. 6.
Mortimer joined the county in 2015 after serving more than 20 years in the U.S. Navy, most recently as a Civil Engineer Corps officer. He oversees the county’s 2014 sales tax projects as well as capital projects undertaken by the Public Works, Facilities and Utilities departments.
Hubbard began with Charlotte County Utilities in February 2014 as operations manager and was named director in September 2015.
“Gary has been a tremendous asset to Charlotte County Utilities and I wish him the very best in his future endeavors,” said Sandrock. “Travis brings to his new position a background filled with operational and management experience in civil engineering and public works projects. He has worked closely with the Utility Department’s senior management team since he joined the county and I have every confidence he will serve ably during this interim period.”
