Sanitary Sewer System Maintenance – Port Charlotte Service Area
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Jan. 10, 2019) – Utility crews are scheduled to clean and televise the sanitary sewer system in the Port Charlotte service area beginning Monday, Jan. 14 for the next 6 months, weather permitting. This routine maintenance will be done on various roads starting on Breezeswept Avenue and moving south through the area. View map here
Crews will use high-pressure cleaning equipment as they move from one manhole to another in the above-mentioned area. Residents may experience gurgling or bubbling water in toilet bowls. In rare cases, water may splash out of the bowl. This is caused by air flow changes in the sanitary sewer during cleaning operations. To minimize splashing, residents in the area are asked to keep their toilet lids closed. Residents will be notified in advance with a door hanger prior to the start of maintenance work on their street. Motorists are advised to use caution when driving in the area when manhole work is being performed.
