South Burnt Store MSBU Paving Program Survey Posted
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (July 28, 2017) – At its July 19 public hearing on the South Burnt Store Street and Drainage Municipal Services Benefit Unit paving proposal, commissioners set a maximum rate for property owners’ assessment. The board is seeking input from residents of the unit on three scenarios for retiring the debt to be incurred to fund the paving.
A survey has been posted on the county’s website asking if property owners in the unit prefer a 10-, 12-, or 15-year payback of the debt. The 10-year option would result in a $297.83 annual assessment for residential property (including the existing maintenance assessment). The 12-year option would cost $265.83 annually. The 15-year option would cost $230.83 annually.
The longer the payback period, the more property owners would ultimately pay. The 10-year option would cost property owners $2,450, the 12-year payback would cost $2,556 and the 15-year plan would cost $2,670.

The board will discuss vote on the proposals at its first budget hearing Sept. 12 and a final decision will be made at the board’s second budget hearing Sept. 26.
