Wastewater Release Report
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (May 16, 2017) – A force main line break yesterday afternoon resulted in a leak of 1,000 gallons of partially treated wastewater at the corner of Ohara Drive and Flamingo Boulevard in Port Charlotte.
Utilities staff quickly responded and recovered approximately 200 gallons of partially treated wastewater with a tanker truck. The remaining wastewater was absorbed into the ground and the affected area was sanitized with hydrated lime. No direct waterways were impacted.
The line was repaired and put back into service yesterday. In keeping with State law, staff reported it to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the State Watch Office.
