Wastewater Release Report
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Aug. 9, 2017) – A power outage on Wednesday resulted in an overflow of 850 to 1,000 gallons of raw wastewater at a lift station located at 145 Bunker Rd. in Rotonda.
Utilities staff quickly responded, stopped the leak and recovered approximately 300 gallons of wastewater with a tanker truck. The remaining wastewater was absorbed into the ground and the affected area was sanitized with hydrated lime. No direct waterways were impacted.
The lift station was put back into service when the power was restored. In keeping with State law, staff reported it to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
