Lost & Found Pets
Animal Control > Lost & Found Pets

If you have lost your pet or found a pet please contact our department to complete a report.

We also recommend filing a lost/found report with the local shelters. If you have found a pet check with your veterinarian, as they may allow you to bring the animal in to be scanned for a microchip. If the pet is wearing a Charlotte County rabies tag, you may contact the veterinarian listed on the back of the tag, or call our office at 941.833.5690, select option 1 and we will attempt to make contact with the registered owner.

Animal Control is required by law to hold impounded animals for five (5) days from the time they are picked up.  After the five day period has ended, if the animal is not claimed by an owner, the animal becomes the property of the Animal Welfare League.
