Notice to become effective September 25, 2006
After August 13, 2004, because of the extensive damage done by hurricane Charlie, we allowed and encouraged Architects and Engineers to help the County with inspections. In so doing, it helped our citizens to get their lives back in order quickly, in particular with the services of our inspectors being stretched to extremes.
We want to express our deepest appreciation to the Architectural and Engineering community for their effort in helping restore this community.
We now find it necessary to return to our pre hurricane Charlie mode of operation. Unless the Architect or Engineer is the Architect or Engineer of record, that individual or firm will not be allowed to do inspections. The only outside inspections that will be allowed by the Architect or Engineer of record are those requested by the inspection department, unless the Architect or Engineer of record has applied to be the inspector by Affidavit and/or Plans Review by Affidavit at the time of permit application.
The Plans Review/inspections by Affidavit have very stringent criterion associated with them. Those firms/customers who might be interested in the Affidavit Program may contact the permitting department for details.
