Flat Work Permit Requirements - Clarification
Effective Date: 12/15/2010
Notice Content
All flat work, whether considered structural or non structural, requires a building permit and inspections. Work performed one foot or less from an existing structure will be required to be termite treated.

Any request to place a structure on a previously permitted, non structural slab must include proof that the slab is structurally able to support that proposed structure.

Driveways that do not come within one foot of any structure only require a Right of Way permit.

Non Structural Flat Work less than 9 square feet in total size, that is more than one foot away from any structure, does not require a permit. However, should there be a need to build a structure on this slab in the future, Charlotte County Building and Growth Management will require proof that the slab is structurally able to support that structure.
