Utilities Department Requests Longer Lead Times for New Service
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Aug. 22, 2017) – The Charlotte County Utilities Department
(Utilities) is facing a significant increase in service requests due to new home construction, development and property sales. Given current staffing levels, Utilities is requesting customer assistance through earlier payment and longer lead time to complete these new service requests in a timely manner.
New service requests are scheduled upon receipt of payment. Service connections will not be added to our work queue until payment is received.
Please consider these lead times for new water
connections as of August 2017:
- Existing Service(s) – If the meter box already exists at the property and fees have been paid, Utilities can usually finalize potable water service within two to three business days.
- New Service(s) – An availability report must be submitted as part of the building permit application. If service is considered available and fees have been paid, please allow a minimum of two to three months for a new installation of water or sewer (includes service line and/or meter box and meter). Please contact us to pay for service as soon as the building plans are approved.
- New Service(s) with Line Extension – If the availability report requires a line extension and fees have been paid, please allow a minimum of three months, or longer depending on proximity to central services and other factors.
