Roadway Markings
Transportation Engineering > Traffic Signs & Markings > Roadway Markings

The Signing & Marking Division maintains the road markings on County maintained roadways in Charlotte County. Roadway markings consist of lane striping, stop bars, crosswalks, turn arrows, school legends, only legends, etc. The Signing & Marking Division also maintains the raised pavement markers and rumble strips on county maintained roadways.

Lane line striping is performed with a striping truck and a follow vehicle with a crash attenuator. If this is on a two lane two-way roadway the follow vehicle will display a message stating do not pass. This is for the motorist’s safety as well as reducing the chance to get paint on vehicles. The striping operation will drive down the roadway striping and pull off for vehicles to pass by in time intervals of 2-5 minutes. This time may vary if there are few areas for the striping vehicles to get out of traffics way. Please do not pass these vehicles when the message board states do not pass.
