David Thomas

Thomas M. David joined the Charlotte County Attorney’s Office in May 2017 as Assistant County Attorney and was appointed Deputy County Attorney in 2024. He handled economic development, county budget, environmental services, and public works matters. In January 2026, He was appointed as County Attorney by the Board of County Commissioners.

Mr. David was born in Buffalo, New York and lived in Miami for over 30 years. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Florida in 1989, his Master of Business Administration Degree from Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida in 1994, and his Juris Doctorate Degree from the Florida International University College of Law in 2005. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. David worked as Chief of Staff for the Miami-Dade County Manager and for a number of private and public sector entities. His broad experience includes several years as Executive Director of the We Will Rebuild Foundation, which focused on aiding Miami’s recovery from Hurricane Andrew.

He has been a member of the Florida Bar since 2006 and is a current member of the Florida Association of County Attorneys, and the Charlotte County Bar Association.
