- The Cultural Center remains closed to public due to safety concerns resulting from multiple hurricane impacts.
- The Port Charlotte Library remains open to the public.
Latest Updates
- BOCC meeting January 27th provided direction to demolish the entire structure, including the library. Planning for demolition will include a bid package developed in partnership with a consultant, timing of the closing/relocating of the Port Charlotte Library will depend on the timing of the opening of the Mid-County Library.
- Master Planning phase complete with the BOCC providing direction to continue the process of presenting the replacement project in the 2026 Sales Tax program.
- All components of the project still remain in the discussion for design (Cultural Center, Library, History Center and Theater). Final design will be determined by the Board of County Commissioners at a future board meeting.
