Project Description
The Manasota Key MSTU Advisory Board requested the development of a Community Plan including, but not limited to, sidewalks, bike paths, crosswalks, and lighting. Phase 1 of this project consisted of a conceptual master plan completed by Weiler Engineering in December 2013. Phase 2 is the design and construction of a 5' Sidewalk, Lighting & Landscaping on the West side of Gulf Blvd. from the south end of the beach parking lot to Little Court and the East side of Gulf Blvd. from Little Court to the end of the road at Stump Pass State Park. Phase 3 was the design of sidewalk and decorative lighting along the commerical area from the north side of the round about to the north entrance of the county beach parking lot. Phase 4 is the design of sidewalk and decorative lighting on N. Beach Road from the N. entrance to the beach parking lot to the Sarasota County line.Project Location

Phase 4 Update

Johnson Engineering was selected as the design consultant for Phase 4.

Work on this project was delayed to assess the site conditions following Hurricane Helene and Milton.

At the March 15 MSTU meeting, the Advisory Board approved moving forward with the design and requested that construction be shifted to FY26.

In September, a drainage feasibility study was added to the design scope to evaluate potential drainage improvement options.

The Engineer of Record (EOR) presented the drainage feasibility findings, including optional design concepts, to the Advisory Board.

The Advisory Board recommended incorporating drainage components into the sidewalk project.

The County Project Manager will develop the revised project scope and associated fees for the additional drainage work.
