Project Description
Outfall culverts that were replaced or repaired due to hurricane damage are required to have a manatee exclusion grate installed. These grates help prevent manatees from getting stuck in the culvert. There are 35 culvert locations throughout the county that will have these grates installed.

There are 35 location throughout West County and Mid County. These culverts outfall into tidal waterways.
Latest Updates
The pre-construction meeting with the contractor was held October 28, 2025. A notice to proceed date will be decided by the end of this week. The contractor will have to order materials and fabricate the grates before they can be installed. We anticipate installation to begin in January 2026.
