Project Description
The purpose of this projects is to design, permit, and construct roadway safety improvements along the one-mile roadway which begins at the intersection of Loveland Boulevard and ends at the entrance of the Charlotte County East Port Wastewater Treatment Plant. This stretch of roadway has heavy truck traffic to the treatment plant and waste management facility amongst other commercial businesses and the roadway is narrow for trucking with the shoulders deteriorated and drop off into deep swales. The improvements include adding stabilized shoulders geometric changes including widening the turn radii at Loveland Boulevard and straightening out the S curve mid road, milling and resurfacing the existing road, drainage improvements and possibly adding street lighting.

The county hired design firm Johnson Engineering has completed initial data collection including a field survey, geotechnical testing of the existing roadway aiding in roadway evaluation, has performed physical locates of existing utilities and has begun working on and providing roadway models for county staff to review. Internal reviews are ongoing and option selection underway. The Utility department is reviewing existing and future utilities along the corridor and providing info to the design team. The design data is being collected as we proceed towards 60% plans.
