Project Description
Park improvements to South County Regional Park located at 670 Cooper St. in Punta Gorda. The project elements include converting the current tennis courts to 8 dedicated Pickleball courts with sport lighting and the construction of two new tennis courts that will be lighted and lined for multi-use play. The existing remote control race car track will be upgraded with a shaded ADA accessible drivers stand and, site furnishings and landscaping will be installed to support the new amenities.Project Location

Public Input session ended on August 9, 2021 and project team is currently reviewing the responses.
Plans have been developed to 90% completion and are currently being reviewed by the project team, final approval is expected within 14 days. Next steps will be permitting and initiating the procurement of a contractor.
Permit applications with 100% construction plans were subitted on 12/02/2021.
Bid request documentation was submitted on 12/03/2021.
Bid's are due back from interested vendors on 3/16/22.
Stellar Develoopment, Inc. awarded the contract.
Construction began on August 22, 2022
9/20/22- Installation of drivers stand at R/C track and shade structures are at 50% completion. Existing court demolition is scheduled to begin on 9/22/22. Electricians are onsite installing the sport court lighting.
12/19/22-R/C track drivers stand is complete, shade structure installation is complete, sport court lighting is complete, court construction and conversion is in progress.
2/06/23- Dedicated Pickleball courts are ready for punch list inspection and corrections. The new tennis court construction is in progress.
3/01/23- Entire project should be substantially completed by the second week of March, with only punch list items outstanding.
Project 100% complete and accepted from contractor.
