Project Description
The purpose of SR776 / Flamingo Blvd intersection project is to widen and add improvements to the intersection ahead of the widening and connections from Flamingo Blvd to the south and the West Port development / Flamingo Blvd to the north coming in the near future. The scope of this project consists of a county hired contractor working in conjunction with a county hired CEI (Construction Engineering Inspection) firm to complete the underground and roadway improvements. Key components of this construction project include installation of underground utilities such as potable water main, raw water main, and sewer main and include two jack and bores under sr776 to complete the installation of utilities. Other improvements include widening of portions of the project along with the construction of new turn lanes, traffic signalization work, sidewalk and other pedestrian improvements. This project is a FDOT LAP project / on system and will follow FDOT and federal specifications and requirements. The CEI is hired to administer the contract as well inspect the work the contractor completes to make sure it conforms to all requirements. They will report directly to Charlotte County management. Both the contractor and the CEI will be responsible for testing of work and materials and the CEI will enter and report the results to FDOT's online records systems.

The construction bid has recently been advertised, and the bid open date is 9-16-26. Award of the contract must take place after a low bidder is selected.
An RFP for the CEI was sent out and a shortlisting meeting was held by a committee to select a firm. The selection will be on the Sep. 8th BOCC meeting for approval.
Construction is expected to start between the 4qrt. of 2026 and 1qrt. of 2027.
