Project Description
The Charlotte County Erosion control Project includes providing erosion control and shoreline stabilization measures including beach nourishment, maintenance dredge bypassing, and stabilizing structures for approximately 5,000 linear feet of eroding gulf and inlet shorelines immediately adjacent to Stump Pass. The sand removed by the Maintenance Dreding of Stump Pass will be used to nourish the beaches north and south of the pass. The project limits for this activity will extend from Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Reference Monument (R-Monument) R-18 south to R-21 on Manasota Key in the Stump Pass Beach State Park. The Project continues on Palm Island extending from approximately 1,200 feet northeast of R-22 along Stump Pass’ southern inlet shoreline and then along the gulf-front shoreline to approximately R-24.Project Location

Pre-Construction Meeting held Tuesday Feb 11, 2025.
Dredging commenced on March 29th on Stump Pass State Park. Sand Placement on the Stump Pass State Park is complete. The contractor demobilized from the state park and comenced pumping the northern segment on Palm Island on April 27th. May 29th the sand placement was deemed complete. May 30th the beach tilling on Palm Island was completed. The contractor has removed all equipment and pipeline from the beach and channel and is actively demobilizing from the project area
