Project Description
The Tom Adams Bridge sustained damage from storm surge associated with Hurricane Milton, resulting in significant undermining of the concrete slope paving (riprap) and sidewalks at all four quadrants of the bridge.
The most severe damage occurred at the beginning (south) end of the bridge, where the undermining beneath the concrete slope pavement and sidewalks ranged from 2 to 4 feet in depth. On this side, the undermining extends beneath the entire sidewalk, compromising the stability of the adjacent roadway embankment. The affected sidewalks are visibly sagging and exhibit multiple structural cracks.
Despite the undermining, the concrete slope pavement at all four quadrants appears stable, with no visible signs of structural cracking.
