Project Description
Charlotte County has engaged Kimley-Horn and Associates to design the replacement of the Washington Loop Bridge over Prairie Creek. Originally constructed in 1961, the existing bridge has been subject to overtopping during storm events, resulting in periodic closures. The new bridge will be designed to mitigate these issues by elevating the structure to accommodate greater water volumes and higher flow velocities during flooding events.Project Location

Project Activities – November 2025
The topographic survey is scheduled to take place within the next week, while the right-of-way survey is still a few weeks away. We have completed the wetland delineations, environmental assessment, utility surveys, and fieldwork for the geotechnical investigations.
Once the survey data is in, the hydraulics team will begin modeling the existing creek conditions, and the roadway team can start evaluating potential roadway alignments and bridge span configurations as part of the Bridge Development Report (BDR).
