Please be advised that spam invoices impersonating Charlotte County Community Development are reportedly being sent out to customers.
These invoices are emailed to customers, claiming that an invoice needs to be paid before permit issuance, and often have inconsistencies or incorrect information in the email.
All Charlotte County permit fees are paid through the Accela Civic Application, in person at the E. Jay Carlson Community Development Building, located at 18400 Murdock Circle, Port Charlotte, FL 33948, or over the phone at 941.764.1201.
Keep yourself safe and review the following if you receive a suspicious email:
- Check the sender’s email address. Look for misspellings and other odd characters added to the email address.
- Look for misspellings within the subject line and body of the email.
- Check the name of the organization and logo.
- If the email seems urgent or threatening, be cautious and do not send any personal information or money.
- Check for strange links, attachments, or instructions in the email.
