Silt Fence and Erosion Control at Construction Sites (Amended)
In accordance with Florida Building Code 3307.1 and Charlotte County Code 3-5-95, provisions shall be made to control water runoff and erosion during construction or demolition activities on site. Inspectors will be enforcing the installation of sediment barriers (silt fences) through the right of way and on construction projects where the property line abuts the following: properties with existing structures, drainage swales, bodies of water and wetlands.
These protections should be in place before development begins and will be verified by the first County inspector that visits the construction site. Lack of erosion control measures may result in a failed inspection. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to install and to maintain the proper erosion control barriers throughout the duration of the project. Should these control measures not be maintained during construction, a Stop Work Order will be posted until corrections are made.
Should you have any questions on proper installation and best management practices please refer to the Charlotte County website or contact the Right of Way & Stormwater Division at 941.743.1955.
We appreciate your attention to this matter and thank you for your cooperation.
