Charlotte County Public Safety comprises Emergency Management, Fire & EMS, Fire Prevention, Animal Control, Radio Communications, and the Public Safety Training Center. The department utilizes a highly skilled workforce to provide services to protect life and property, mitigate hazards, and respond to emergencies.

Charlotte County Fire & EMS has been recognized by the Florida Emergency Medical Services for Children State Partnership Program for achieving the criteria for the Florida Prehospital Pediatric Readiness Recognition Program at the Florida PEDReady Gold Tier. This recognition makes Charlotte County Fire & EMS only the eighth agency in the state of Florida to earn this distinction.

Charlotte County Installs Reflective Evacuation Zone Bands on Stop Signs

The Charlotte County Office of Emergency Management, in partnership with Charlotte County Public Works, has installed over 12,900 reflective vinyl bands on stop signs and intersections throughout unincorporated areas of Charlotte County. These 3-inch-wide bands, which feature both the color and letter of evacuation zones, are designed to make it easier for residents and visitors to identify their evacuation zone and storm surge risk during a tropical storm or hurricane.
