Charlotte County Public Safety comprises Emergency Management, Fire & EMS, Fire Prevention, Animal Control, Radio Communications, and the Public Safety Training Center. The department utilizes a highly skilled workforce to provide services to protect life and property, mitigate hazards, and respond to emergencies.

Cold Weather Shelter Open Tuesday and Wednesday Nights

The National Weather Service forecasts cold temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, Dec. 30 and 31. The Charlotte CARE Center (formerly the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition), 1476 Kenesaw St., Port Charlotte, will provide shelter to persons needing refuge from the cold. Guests will need to pre-register by calling 941-627-4313 and arrive by 8 p.m.
