Aircraft Rescue Firefighter Certification

Airport Firefighter - Basic (40 Hour) Certification

This course meets the training requirements for NFPA 1003: Standard for Airport Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications. The course will provide students with the proper knowledge and skills to effectively respond and mitigate to an aircraft emergency such as airport familiarization, PPE, tactics, incident command, airfield communications, safety planning, operation of apparatus and equipment, and much more. Additionally, students will become efficient in extinguishing wheel, engine, interior cabin, and compartment fires.

Live Fire Aircraft Burn - FAR 139 Requirement

The re-certification course provides for live fire training which will reinforce the ability to control an aircraft fire. Students attending this course will complete training accepted by the FAA for annual live fire training (FAR 139.319) while providing a variety of fires and scenarios.

Pre-requisite: Airport Firefighter - 40 hour ARFF Certification / or equivalent.

Course FAQs

Course Attire/Personal Protection Equipment (PPE): For classroom activities, participants must wear full length pants, closed-toe shoes, and short sleeve/ long sleeve shirts (no sleeveless shirts). For field exercises, participants must provide their own NFPA 1971 compliant PPE. PPE includes coat, pants, hood, gloves, helmet, and boots. Emergency loaner equipment may be provided if necessary. Participants are required to participate in hands-on activities utilizing Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and therefore must be clean shaven while attending class. Facial hair must not be present where the SCBA mask seal contacts the skin. Departments/students must provide their own SCBA and mask.

Attendance Requirements: Class attendance is an essential part of the education process. Participants are expected to attend all classroom sessions and field exercises as a component of successful course completion.

Course Materials: All classroom course materials (textbooks, paper, writing utensils, etc. are provided by us.

Physical Conditioning: A physical examination is not required prior to enrolling in this course. However, all students must be considered “work status”, uninjured, and in good physical health. 

Student Handbook: All students will be required to read and sign a student handbook on the first day of class prior to start of the course. A copy of this handbook can be obtained by contacting us by email.
