CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Jan. 13, 2026) – Beginning Jan. 20, 2026, demolition work will take place to prepare for upcoming playground shade replacements at the following parks:
- Port Charlotte Beach Park – 4500 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL 33952
- Katherine Ariens Dog Park – 22410 Glass Lane, Port Charlotte, FL 33980
- William R. Gaines Jr. Veterans Memorial Park – 20499 Edgewater Drive, Port Charlotte, FL 33952
- South Gulf Cove Park – 10150 Amicola St., Port Charlotte, FL 33981
During this time, playground areas at these parks will be temporarily closed. Work is scheduled to occur from Jan. 20 - 23, 2026 (weather permitting).
Nearby playgrounds remain available for public use at Higgs Park (21400 Higgs Drive, Port Charlotte, FL 33952) and, for the South Gulf Cove area, Rotonda Community Park (100 E. Rotonda Blvd., Rotonda West, FL 33947).
