The Public Safety Department's Emergency Management Group administers the Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS), which is a community developed plan to reduce and or eliminate the risks associated with natural and man-made hazards. The Local Mitigation Strategy’s purpose will be achieved through the process of hazard mitigation. As used in the LMS, “hazard mitigation” refers to any actions taken by local governments, other government entities, or private interests to permanently reduce or eliminate short and long-term risks to people and their property from the effects of natural or manmade disasters. This plan drives the County's future planning for climate resiliency.
