Struggling to make ends meet can be stressful, and we’re here to help. You may be eligible for assistance with rent, mortgage, utilities, or minor home repairs through grants and other funding programs.
Each program has its own requirements. If you do not qualify for one, you might qualify for another. Eligibility is based on household income.

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps eligible low-income households with heating and cooling bills. You may receive an annual energy benefit or crisis assistance if you’re facing an energy emergency.
Please be advised that the Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Program (EHEAP) is now administered through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Eligible seniors experiencing an energy crisis should apply using the Florida LIHEAP application..

Need Help Paying for Housing or Utilities?
You may qualify for help with past-due bills, such as rent or mortgage payments, move-in costs, water or utility bills, or home repairs. To get started, please complete the Charlotte County Family Stability Application. After you apply, a member of the Human Services team will review your information and contact you by phone or email to continue the process. Be sure your contact details are correct. If you have received an eviction or foreclosure notice and the application limit has been reached, please contact us—we are here to help guide you.
At this time, we are not accepting new applications for assistance. Please check back periodically for updates on application availability. Due to limited funding, staffing capacity, and the high number of applications received, wait times may be longer than usual. We appreciate your patience and understanding. No money, cash, or checks will be requested or accepted from applicants or clients for services of any kind. If an employee asks for money, report this to a Manager or the Director of the Human Services Department.
