CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (March 31, 2026) –The Charlotte County UF/IFAS Extension Service is seeking volunteers to participate in the Eyes on Seagrass to document the health and status of seagrass within the Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserves. After receiving training and the necessary equipment, volunteers will use their own boat or paddle craft to survey their chosen sites any time from April 18-May 3, 2026.

Volunteers will need to assemble a team of three to four individuals for their surveys and may survey as many or as few sites as they’d like. Individual training & equipment pick up appointments will occur in 30-minute increments April 7-17, 2026. There are options to connect in Punta Gorda or Centennial Park Recreation Center in north Port Charlotte.
