The intersection at Veterans Boulevard and Yorkshire Street will be closed Monday, May 18 through Friday, June 12 for Wright Construction to perform roadway construction. No cross traffic will be allowed through the intersection.

Charlotte County Recognizes National Economic Development Week

Charlotte County commissioners recognized May 10-16, 2026, as National Economic Development Week, highlighting the local partnerships that support business growth, entrepreneurship, job creation and long-term economic vitality throughout the county. The proclamation recognizes the role economic development plays in strengthening communities by helping create, retain and expand jobs, supporting a stable tax base and improving quality of life. Representatives from SCORE, the Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce, Charlotte County Public Schools, and the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce joined Charlotte County Economic Development staff for the recognition.
Englewood Beach Basketball Court Resurfacing

Randy Spence Park Construction

Cole Kelly of Punta Gorda Adventures was named Emerging Business of the Year by the Florida SBDC at FGCU during the 2026 Distinguished Entrepreneur Awards held May 6.
The Distinguished Entrepreneur Awards recognize entrepreneurs and business leaders in Southwest Florida. Kelly was honored in the Emerging Business of the Year category, representing Charlotte County among this year’s award winners.

Mid-County Regional Library Reopening May 11
