The Charlotte County Commission has imposed a ban on all outdoor open burning, including the use and discharge of fireworks and sparklers, due to ongoing drought conditions and increased fire risk.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT – DISASTER RECOVERY (CDBG-DR)

Charlotte County is proposing to request Community Development Block Grant–Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds from FloridaCommerce to provide the local match for eligible Hurricane Ian Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) projects. The County is accepting public comment on the proposed projects through Dec. 22, 2025, to ensure transparency and community participation in the application process.

Enjoy a free pancake breakfast sponsored by HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital, meet Santa when he arrives on a fire engine at 9:30 a.m., and take part in photos with Santa, children’s activities, live Christmas music, and demonstrations by Charlotte County Fire & EMS. Families can also explore equipment displays from the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, Utilities, and other county departments.
