Charlotte County experienced extensive damage to fencing, antenna systems, and site infrastructure. Chain link, vinyl, and decorative fencing were destroyed or damaged, with many gates non-operational. Antenna systems—including SCADA, Yagi, and AMR—suffered severe damage to structures and cables. Utility components were exposed or damaged due to erosion and structural destruction. Buildings sustained roof, drywall, and insulation damage.

Storm surges caused severe erosion, washouts, and structural damage. Restroom foundations were undermined, and multiple piers and boardwalks need full concrete replacement. Sidewalks, pavers, rip rap, seawalls, and erosion control structures were damaged. Additional impacts include damaged posts, benches, signage, fencing, and trash containers.

Hurricane Ian caused washouts, runoff, and shoaling in navigable channels, leading to reduced draft depths and potential navigation hazards. A bathymetric survey is needed to assess the extent of the shoaling, and dredging will be required to restore waterway depth for safe navigation.

The continued growth of Charlotte County requires an enhanced disaster response through a whole community approach and collaborative problem solving to ensure timely protective actions, a more educated, informed and prepared population and resilient infrastructure.

The existing pool at Port Charlotte Beach Park will be replaced with a community pool suitable for lap swimming, aerobic exercise, therapy, and other special events.
