Beginning Jan. 20, 2026, playground areas will be temporarily closed for demolition work to prepare for upcoming playground shade replacements at Port Charlotte Beach Park, Katherine Ariens Dog Park, William R. Gaines Jr. Veterans Memorial Park, and South Gulf Cove Park.

Registration is open for the Coastal Systems Module of the Florida Master Naturalist Program, offered in Charlotte County by UF/IFAS Extension Florida Sea Grant. Registration is first-come first-served but will end March 2 if seats remain unfilled.
