The Cultural Center Replacement project was approved to move forward with masterplanning and programming by the Board of County Commissioners on March 12th 2024 following a series of public input activities and final presentation. The board granted $750,000 to proceed with advertising for a consultant. Additionally the direction was given to move forward with demolition of the existing facility scheduled for FY26. The site suffered significant waterfront and structural damage, including erosion, seawall displacement, and exposed mangrove roots. Several piers were damaged, along with the boat ramp, storm drain protections, and shoreline. Storm surges caused waterway fill, requiring dredging and reinforcement. Additional damage affected parking bumpers, containers, and signage.
