Outfall culverts that were replaced or repaired due to hurricane damage are required to have a manatee exclusion grate installed. These grates help prevent manatees from getting stuck in the culvert. There are 37 culvert locations throughout the county that will have these grates installed.

Weir Inspection and Repair Design

The ELK 3.45, FOR 5.11 and a weir on the Pellam Waterway were found to be damaged. The cause of the damage is not known. An engineering firm has been retained to assess these three water control stuctures to determine the extent of the deficincies and then to prepare a cost effective plan that will successfully restore the structures so that they operate as designed.
South County Annex Replacement

The current Annex has reached the end of life, and stands in a high risk flood zone. The project will include master planning the current and future needs of stakeholders as well as site feasibility to determine the best location for a new building. The primary function of the South County Annex is to serve the regional community with governement services that include the Tax Collector, Property Appraiser, Supervisor of Elections and Board of County Commissioners.

The area sustained extensive pier damage resulting in total loss of timber and composite fishing pier. Erosion of pier approach/walkway, and pier bulkhead with severe loss of rip rap revetment.
Disaster Recovery Site - Englewood Beach and Chadwick Park

The site experienced erosion and widespread damage to playgrounds, park amenities, boardwalks, sidewalks, pavilions, buildings, lighting, asphalt, curbing and fencing caused by storm surge, strong winds, flooding, and wind borne debris from multiple hurricanes.
